STRESS MANAGEMENT (for Cardiac Rehabs)

History

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW),  Psychotherapist, and Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapy Specialist (ACHS), I provided for over a decade, weekly Stress Management classes for two hospitals’ Cardiac Rehabilitation (and other) Departments.  These programs helped patients in Cardiac Rehab to recognize causes, symptoms, and easy, effective Progressive Relaxation Techniques (PRT) for management of stress.

Free to Cardiac Rehab programs

Though officially retired from the clinical work force, I maintain my license to practice clinically–even though it is done voluntarily--at no charge to patients or facilities.

Stress Classes

(1/2 Hour or 1 Hour options) Offered when schedule permits and at no charge.

In a Cardiac Rehab (or other) Stress Classes, the following is identified and practical techniques for management is offered:

Two Definitions of “Stress”

  1. A “popular” (but ineffective) definition:  “Stress is that confusion created when the mind must override the body’s basic desire to choke the living crap out of some idiot who despirately needs it!”   Most of us could readily identify with this thinking.
  2. A “working” (practical and effective) definition:  “Stress is the way we react physically and emotionally to change.”
