FOR FUNERAL DIRECTORS

ESTABLISHED PRIOR RELATIONSHIPS

It has been a pleasure to have worked over the years with several of the Tolland and Hartford County funeral homes in the capacity of Hospital(s) Director of inpatient and emergency Social Services, and Employee Assistance Department.  On numerous occasions hospital patients and employees have sought my assistance and support in coordinating funeral service needs in collaboration with the local funeral directors.  I’ve always been impressed with the funeral home directors’ and staff’s sensitivity and compassion in every instance.

CURRENT AVAILABILITY

Having retired from the Healthcare field nearly 5 years ago and as an ordained nondenominational Minister, I am pleased to have, once again but in a different capacity, an opportunity to associate with local funeral homes and be of assistance and/or support to families needing your services.  I am now local and easily accessible, moreso on weekdays, evenings, and Sunday afternoons. I am hopeful that I may be another resource for you.  Therefore, I welcome your contacting me or recommending me to your clients to provide spiritual support and officiate at funeral services.

FUNERAL HOME & GRAVESIDE SERVICES

TYPES OF SERVICES

Home Support – when families experience the loss of a loved one and desire a visit  (at their home or at the Funeral Home) for consolation or assistance with initial contacts.

Officiating at the Funeral/Memorial Service – that takes place in the funeral home and/or at the grave site.  This would be for those who do not have their own clergy or affiliation with a particular church, or those who are not wanting a religious service, but rather a secular memorial service.

Planning Meeting(s) – allow the family to develop a service that is fitting and relevant for them.  Such meetings provide opportunity to share personal and historical information that can be used in a Eulogy, and to request meaningful readings (religious or secular), and/or music selections if desired.

Music – can be a part of the service both at the funeral home and/or at the gravesite depending on the wishes of the family.  As a long time church organist and music director, I can personally offer standard hymns.   I can also, if desired, engage a renowned young concert pianist/vocalist with whom I am affiliated.  Beside performing concerts all over the country and playing/singing for hundreds of weddings, he has provided religious and secular music for hundreds of funerals, memorials, and family receptions.

Compensation Fees – are negotiable for families able to afford it. For families who have significant financial hardships I am happy to wave  fees for my services.

NON-CHURCH FUNERALS ONLY

For families who are affiliated with particular churches or parishes, and want the funeral to be at their church,  it is necessary to seek their own clergy to officiate.  I fully respect that most church denominations require their own authorized clergy or parish designees to perform the rites, sacraments, and other services of their particular religions.  Some cemeteries are also owned by religious affiliations and they, too, have restrictions that require their own clergy.  Your understanding is much appreciated.
