BACKGROUND

PRACTICE OVERVIEW

Now retired from healthcare, Ron was formerly a clinically licensed private practitioner of individual, couples, marriage, and family therapy for over 35 years. He retains his LCSW in order to periodically provide healthcare services on a volunteer basis since professional retirement.  He began his psychiatric affiliation in the State Department of Mental Health (DMH) at two inpatient pediatric, adult and geriatric facilities and was Director of Aftercare Services and clinician for Intensive Care Inpatient Services for an alcohol and drug treatment (CADAC) hospital.  He then provided clinical and administrative services full time to both State and private hospitals for as many years–his last 4 years specializing in pediatric and adolescent psychotherapy services for a major healthcare system.  He served 15 years as Director of another major healthcare system’s Social Services for inpatient Medical, Hemodialysis, Hospice, Diabetes, and Cardiac Rehabilitation departments.  He directed Employee Assistance services for over 3,000 healthcare employees, and was the Program Administrator for Deaf and Hearing Impaired Services.  He supervised Crisis and Emergency Department Psychiatric Services and Inpatient Medical and Psychiatric Social Services. As part of a multidisciplinary team, he worked closely with an outstanding Chaplaincy department for 15 years, providing support for not only patients and their families, but for hospital staff as well.  He developed and administered the Social Wellness Support Services Department.  As a clinical educator, he provided ongoing wellness workshops (including medical hypnosis programs) at two local hospitals.  Holding many certifications from the study of Hypnology he is, also, an Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapy Specialist.

FAMILY / EDUCATION, TRAINING, & CERTIFICATION HISTORY

Raised in a rural farming community on a nearly 400 acre dairy farm and the youngest of five children, (today, father of three and grandfather of one) Ron attended the local public schools and was, as a teen, the organist in some of the local churches.  He entered Holy Orders in an Anglican Monastery where he received his initial training in theology and liturgy.  He also attended ECSU, transferring to Hartt College of Music at University of Hartford, and later earned his undergraduate degree at SCSU.  He attended Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service with advanced standing earning his Master’s Degree and acceptance into their doctoral program.  Serving as organist and director of liturgical music for several different parishes (and four different denominations) over the decades, he also attended Yale University Divinity School workshops for Liturgical Music Directors.
