ATTENTION ALL CLERGY, HEATHCARE STAFF, & OTHERS REGARDING PERSONS OF PARTICULAR FAITHS/RELIGIOUS DENOMINATIONS
As a nondenominational Minister I am not authorized by specific religions or denominations to administer their sacraments, rites, or other services to their church members (e.g., Communion, Confession, Last Rites, etc.). Therefore, out of respect for and compliance with the rules, practices, and boundaries of such religions or churches, I respectfully delcine requests to administer their services to their members. It is important to understand that:
1. Most facilities have their own in-house Chaplains or on-call Ministers who would be the first line individuals to be contacted for persons who are of a specific religion, unless the person’s own clergy or other parish designees have been requested or advised of the patient’s need for visitation or other services.
2. Patients who are affiliated with particular parishes or faiths, may not only be expected, but also may be required by their own religious affiliation to contact their own parish offices to receive visits from their own authorized clergy or parish designees for administration of sacraments such as communion, confessions, last rites, or other services specific to their particular faith or denomination.
3. I may be requested in the case of a patient who is of no preferred religious affiliation, or is not religious at all, or who prefers a non-religious visit, or who may be of a particular religion, but who has requested a supportive visit, specifically by me, which does not involve interference with the person’s own faith.
4. I reserve the right and discretion to decline avail to any person(s) I deem better served by other resources or other clergy. Availability is also contingent upon schedule and other professional and/or personal factors.
